Movement Disorders
We treat patients with a wide range of neuromuscular disorders, including ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), peripheral neuropathy, myopathy, myasthenia gravis, and muscular dystrophy.

Diagnosing Movement Disorders

Movement disorders can arise from a wide array of neurological causes. We employ many diagnostic techniques, including leading-edge neuroimaging using CT, MRI and PET scanning to help provide an accurate diagnosis as a necessary first step before treatment.

Treatments
Many movement disorders respond positively to appropriate treatment. Typically, treatments are designed to slow or stop the progress of the underlying disease, or to control the symptoms of the disorder, allowing patients to enjoy a much improved quality of life.

Treatments may be administered by many members of our team, including physicians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and respiratory therapists. In addition, a representative of the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association is available to assist with patients.
